Um, I can save the state about $2 million dollars and say with few exceptions they’ll leave the vegetables, and eat whatever’s sweet or fattening.

Make vegetables taste like Jello pudding, and we’re on to something.

We have such a horrible problem with over-weight children (and adults) in SA, that if parents want to opt-in to this program, I don’t really have much of a problem with it.

Couldn’t they just ask the lunch ladies? What do they take, and what do they put in the trash?

Or ask Moms. We could tell you what kids are willing to eat. (Big hint: theheat is on to something.)

I’d do this project for a tenth of the cost. It does really bug me that kids pile tons of food on their trays and toss a whole lot of it in the trash. I’ve seen it at every school my kids’ have attended save one, which was a public elementary in Montgomery, AL. At that school, kids would let the staff know which item they wanted and the person would place a serving on the plate…portion control and they actually cooked recognizable food (bbq pork chops, home-made meat loaf, etc.)

Every other school in every other state we’ve lived in has had tons of food wasted. And the quality of food has been pretty nasty too.

I didn’t get responsible about finishing my food until I started buying the food that I put on that plate.

Of course, this also meant that I was able to cook what I like.

(I foresee a diet free of cheese for my 4th child.)
